Trainer Randy's Review of ATN PS31-3W Gen 3 51 FOV Dual Tube Night Vision Goggle/Binocular

I had mine for over 3 years now, the FOV is excellent.
Having both an objective & ocular focus is great for anyone that doesn’t have a 20 year old eyes/vision.
I have a COTI thermal on it too & it overlays great!
Nothing beats thermal & analog NV together/fusion! Well except the E-COTI with COMMS & teams/ATAC in the eye piece.
I did have to print a custom mounting ring for the COTI so I could still use the objective focus ring.
As we all know using NODS you have to get used to not seeing close up and possibly having your NODS set 5-10 feet different each eye for real life situations. AND I do use 1 shutter/adj-aperture on the right tube so I can see at night. But honestly the eye cap worked just fine to do that with the pinhole slightly enlarged too.
Anyways they are decent price point and LASTLY I did mention the warranty- ATN replaced the plastic bridge, which cracked just enough to expose the inside wire. They are lightweight which matters hanging in your head, but if you’re younger who cares lol. I know, I know, ounces= pounds & pounds = pain.
The ATN plastic bridge is certainly a weak-spot and for that reason I would not buy a 2nd set considering a decent Fusion set is now $14k and the only way to fly now!
I used to be a professional trainer after my younger years as a Mil-Contractor and 39 surgeries to bolt me back together after each jaunt when I was young! After you f-up you then become a trainer, lol like we all said: “when you can no longer DO you then teach.
