Bine's Review of ATN ThOR-HD 4.5-18x50mm Thermal Imaging Rifle Scope
I like this product. I have been wanting to get a thermal scope for some time now but the price was prohibitive. I found this on optics planet for an amazing price, during a black Friday sale. I spent much less on it buying from optics planet than I would have spent elsewhere. I like the features that it has. I like the fact that I can now shoot in the dark, or day. I can spot cattle from up to 2 miles away, temperature is below freezing as I write this. Under 100 yards I can easily spot birds, rats, mice, fox, racoon, etc. It would be a good idea to check your local regs about spot lighting and night hunting before purchasing. There are a few things I don't like about it. The screen is a bit grainy, like looking through a window screen. I attribute that to the 384 resolution. The same scope in 640 resolution is anther $1k. For that price I can live with the 384 resolution. Even with the grainy sight picture this scope is very useable. The one shot zero works all right. I wouldn't say it is one shot but the theory is good. It took me some time to sight it in so now that I have lots of practice it might be a five shot zero next time. The buttons are easy enough for me to use in the dark. I would suggest ATN make an upgrade to the buttons. If I was manufacturing these scopes I would smooth off the button area and add raised dimples to the power and the enter button.I think the external battery is essential
Overall I have enjoyed the thor HD.
