One of my better decisions! - ATN X-Sight 4K Pro Edition 5-20x70mm Smart HD 30mm Tube Day/Night Rifle Scope

I debated whether to purchase a conventional scope for my new rifle and buy an additional add-on night sight or, buy the ATN X-Sight pro.
I took a leap of faith and bought the ATN - and I'm very glad I did.
It works very well during the day and is excellent in darkness.

The ATN has many advantages over a conventional scope and only a couple of minor downsides.

1. The image you see is electronically generated. Not like a clear glass lens. Therefore, the daylight image is more like looking through a digital camera.
2. The menu system is simple enough, but a little clunky to navigate quickly when you need to change a setting. (I am improving with practice!)

However, for me these disadvantages are completely eclipsed by the masses of functionality the unit provides.
The one-shot zero is superb.

The onboard ballistic calculator is equally superb. Simply range and fire. Job done. No range cards, no having to get the phone out and find the ballistic solver app - just squeeze the trigger and watch the projectile make a hole where you wanted! It will also automatically take a video of it for you!
You can enter the range by manual estimation or by the on-board calculator however, I sprung for the ABL 1500 rangefinder.
Just point at the target, press the button and the range will be entered into the ballistic calculator which will adjust your aiming point instantly! Simples.
(In hindsight, I should have purchased the ATN Laser Ballistics unit, as it would have suited my shooting setup better.)
The sight even has a level gauge as well as an inclinometer, so no more rifle-cant and the shot angle is automatically added to the ballistic solution!

My wish list for improvement?
I hope that future software updates include more gun profiles. Six is okay, but when you need one profile per combination of gun/scope/ammo, twenty-plus would be more useful.

As the X-sight is a sophisticated instrument that runs on software and electrons, there can be minor issues. Initially I had difficulty with my compass not setting, so I reached out to ATN support and spoke with a chap named Kenny Acres. He talked me through a very simple calibration process and I was back in the shooting business in minutes!

Great product, great price, excellent functionality and solid support.
I am so impressed; I ordered quick-detach rings so it can be fitted to each of my firearms as my first-choice scope.
