James's Review of ATN X-Sight 4K Pro Edition 5-20x70mm Smart HD 30mm Tube Day/Night Rifle Scope

I received the scope and charged it the first night. The next day after getting off of work I began to explore the different functions. The scope froze and I couldn't get it to do anything. Read that you could turn it off by holding the power button down for 15 seconds, so I tried that and the scope turned off. It would randomly freeze so each time I would hold down the power button to turn it off. I input the ballistics information and even created 2 different profiles. When I would have to hold down the power button to turn it off it would lose my profiles. Every time i turned it on it would make me calibrate the compass. I tried for 5 days to zero the reticle and it froze every time I tried.

After 5 days I decided to send it back to Optics Planet. I boxed it up expecting to call for an RMA after work. My wife reminded me why I purchased it in the first place and talked me into trying one more time. I unboxed it and still had the same problems. I was reading the manual and saw that there was a Reset Back to Factory setting. Nothing else had worked and the firmware was up to date so I decided to try that.

After resetting the scope to factory settings it started working. Some of the functions are still muted but I was able to set it up and zero the reticle. It is saving my ballistics information and I have created 3 different profiles. It still makes me calibrate the compass about every other time I turn it on. I Went hunting last friday night and it worked fine even with the muted firmware. Pictures look good but the video is pretty bad. it Looks better at night then it does in the day time. I was able to see deer, raccoons, rabbits, and even an owl at distances between 150 yards and 225 yards with the standard IR light that came with it. Never saw any wild pigs so didn't get to fire any shots.

I'm rating it three stars until ATN updates the firmware. Once the updated firmware is available and installed, I hope to adjust this review to a higher score.
