Barnes bot tx,300 win Mag 180 grain ttsx bt
Upcoming trip to South Africa to hunt plains game. Have not killed with this load yet but will in two weeks. Bench shot only sighting in. Good groups in my tikka 300 win Mag. Familiar with Barnes Bullets previously, that all I hunt with and reload.
Great, accurate ammo!
Shoots nice tight groups out of my Franchi 300 WM. Packaged nicely. A little pricey, but there is ammo out there that costs a lot more for the same terminal performance. Don't really care for Optic Planet's store credit in lieu of refunding your money though.
Pros:
- Accurate
Cons:
- None
Best Used for:
- big game hunting
Would recommend: Yes

Great hunting ammunition
I have used these for the past couple of seasons, they always work the same at 500 yards as 100. Plus I won't end up with lead in my hamburger meat.
Pros:
- Lead Free
- Works long range
Cons:
- price
- Not always in stock

Barnes The Best For Me
I have been buying and using many different ammunitions by many different manufacturers for over sixty years. I discovered Barnes for my .300 Win Mag and my 7mm Rem Mag a few years ago. They have worked well on elk and deer. I hunt where the shots are long and have had 100% success. A bit on the pricey side, but WELL WORTH IT!
Pros:
- Quality and consistency
Cons:
- None
Best Used for:
- Elk and deer long range shots
Would recommend: Yes

My Favorite Hunting Ammo
I am a few months away from turning eighty. Been hunting since I was twelve. Been through lots of ammo with so many deer and elk kills that I have lost count. I found Barnes for .300 Win Mag a few years ago. My last season elk kill was a 300 meter shot downhill and steep with my Tikka. One shot, one kill! The 180 gr TTSX BT dropped the bull like a bag of rocks. I will keep using Barnes ammo in my .300 Win Mag and my 7mm Rem Mag. Yes, it's a bit pricey, but WELL WORTH IT! Try Optics Planet pricing. It was lower than anywhere else that I could find it.
Pros:
- Uniform
- Uniform and quality loads
Cons:
- Can't Find Any
Best Used for:
- All big game and long range hunting
Would recommend: Yes
Can't spend too many rounds with the current price of ammo.
I would love to shoot my rifle more often but my rifle loves Barnes and is a tack driver. Lucky for me because cartridges are now over $4 per. I used to visit a short to long distance hunting class but that requires about 140 rounds. Do the numbers!
Pros:
- Great consistent ammo
Cons:
- Prlce
Best Used for:
- Serious hunters
Would recommend: Yes
