Rob's Review of Barnes VOR-TX .308 Winchester 130 grain TTSX Boat Tail Brass Centerfire Rifle Ammunition

I have researched this round and have heard nothing but great things. So I found a good deal price was great but upon receiving all the ballistic tips are offset in the projectile. By alot you can see it with the eye, in the same order I purchased some Hornady e l d x that have a similar polymer tip and that round is completely uniform along with every other polymer tip round I have ever purchased including much cheaper ammunition. This is supposed to be a higher end copper hunting load and the hole Pont of use a lighter bullet is to shot faster and flatter, there's no way that it's going shoot right this going to affect the accuracy of projectile I have not shot them yet was waiting for a response from Optics Planet or Barnes .Have done a ton of research on this load like any hunter should. I reached out to Optics planet sent in pictures and received nothing thanks for That Opticsplanet all that being said this should be a great round for medium sized game out to 400 yards if you do your part, and from all the research I've done I have not came across this problem in any forums or you tube, it basically just comes down to if your rifle likes it, because not all rifles are the same. Just seems like my luck. I do not ever really leave reviews or try to put somebody down I have usually had a very good experience with Optics planet. Just when you spend that kind of money for a higher end product you expect that kind of quality I can go over to Palmetto State and buy a black saber round from AAC that has a Barnes copper bullet at half the price all that being said I hope nobody else has this issue from all accounts this is an awesome round but that's the reason for the two stars
Pros:
  • Much faster flatter shooting and retains weight on impact
Cons:
  • Hopefully it was just me that got a bad lot
Best Used for:
  • Hunting medium size game
