Very solid scope with great glass - Barra Optics H30 4-12X40 Rifle Scope, 1in Tube, Second Focal Plane

I found the fit and finish of this scope to be very good. No machining marks, everything fits together well and works smoothly. The side focus was a bit stiff at first but it loosened up with use. Zoom is very smooth and 4 to 12 X is a great range for hunting and short-mid range target shooting. I must admit to a bit of ignorance in regards to illuminated reticles and say this may just be the nature of the beast, but there is a bright spot in the lower left edge of the field of view that I find distracting. I don't expect to use the illumination often so it's not a big issue. On the positive side, I like that the brightness settings are alternated with OFF settings so the user can quickly return to the desired brightness without having to go through all the settings. Windage and elevation knobs have a good feel to them; very positive clicks, no grittiness or looseness. They have 15 MOA of adjustment per revolution which makes me have to think a little more than if they were 10 MOA per rev. In an application where one is not regularly making large adjustments to windage or elevation this is not an issue. I measured elevation to have 72 minutes of adjustment, windage 74. I ran through the range of adjustments several times checking against a ruler at 50 yards and they were dead on every time. The glass is very good, image is bright and clear. Overall, this scope exceeds my expectations and it is an excellent value.
