Naturescape water proof 15-45x60 phase coated ed glass spotting scope - Barska Naturescape Water Proof 15-45x60 Phase Coated ED Glass Spotting Scope AD11106

I was skeptical, but I needed a quick inexpensive target scope to practice mid range shots. 2-4 hundred yards I was pleasantly surprised. fully multi coated lenses, low dispersion (ED) glass, nitrogen purged/waterproof, and a decent magnification range. the images are clear and bright all the way to the edges. The focus though kind of jittery and quick, but it was one finger adjustable and does do its job, relatively smooth. The zoom on eyepiece (non removable) is firmer but feels precise and not too stiff as to move the mount. As a reference I am using this on a heavy duty professional carbon fiber photography tripod with very good large Ball mount, and the comparison I have made are to the scopes I regularly use on my rifles, 1. Leupold VX3i 3.5x10 by 56 and the big bad boy Trijicon ACOG 5.5 x 50 and an older (made in USA with Japanese glass) Vortex crossfire (Ver.1) 6-18 x 44 illuminated, All of which have excellent optical qualities and first 2 cost several times what this Spot scope did. This amazingly cheap for what you get scope is clearer and less color abhoration, and much brighter than the Vortex mid cheap scope. In the range about as clear and detailed, although not quite as bright as the huge objective Leupold,($800) but much more magnification and very detailed at full 45x, can't really hold a candle to the ACOG's($1400)Phenomenal Glass, but I can pick out individual bullet holes @400yds mid day, good sun, not hazy, on black splatter target yellow ring. Even with my old eyes wearing contacts. Throw away the cheap tripod and hard case, the soft case is good. <$300 Buy It! And a good tripod.
