The Barska Contour is marketed as a crossbow scope, but the eye relief makes it impossible to mount forward far enough for use. With the scope mounted as far forward as it would go on my Barnett Panzer V, I still could not get a full field of view. In order to see through it I had to hold the bow several inches off my shoulder with my head tilted far back, making it completely useless for its stated purpose. In its favor, I found the clarity and overall optical quality to be excellent and the crossbow-style multiple reticle is well conceived and coarse enough to be clearly visible in brush or low light. I believe this would be a good scope for other purposes, such as a scout-type rifle chambered for a caliber like the 6.5X55 Swede for close distance brush shooting or for the Winchester 94 with its top ejection. It might also be useful on a shotgun or a pistol. However, unless your crossbow has a much longer stock and allows for much more forward placement than mine, it is not usable for its stated purpose. That is why I gave it such a low review.

This is mounted on an M4. I chose this scope because of the extended eye relief, but it is a crossbow scope, so it has a crossbow reticle. This would be perfect if Barska offered a standard crosshair style reticle. Otherwise I have been pleased with this scope. My second Barska scope...not of Leupold and Zeiss quality, but very good for the price. Highly recommended.
