Most Helpful Positive Review Reconsider, Charley CALIF
RESPONSE to review by Charley, in CA, previous: I am pro photographer, my usual hi-magnification seen thru big telephoto camera lens. I have university schooling, also, in Astronomy, Physics, Optics, etc. One primary TEST for binoculars, regardless of size, mag, price, is to view a "point" light...

if you need the extra power, i would suggest spending the extra dollars and trade up to a better set of optics. Pros: great value for the money Cons: not a great viewing range at 125x

125 magnification is a sales hype. It is there but you to fiddle allot to get it. Zoom is a misleading term.Zoom should be understood to mean variable magnification. When you increase magnification you lose field of view and light. That is just a fact in binocular optics. The Barska 25-125x80 that I own are good to 55x after that you I have to start fiddling with focus issues. The optics are clear and sharp to 115x, once in focus.A point I would like to make is this. You will not find a 25x80, barska makes 30x, you can buy a 40x for $3000, you want 50x, not in a binocular. Imagine looking through a fixed mag. binocular, and seeing something of interest, and wishing you dad more power. Well with these you have it at your finger tips. These are well worth having.
Pros: Access to variable magnification.
Cons: Magnification indicator hard to see.

Barska 25-125x80 Gladiator Zoom Binoculars AB10594

by Legacy Reviewer, from WA, United States Written on August 2, 2007
It's a really cool binocular. I can change the magnifications at will. And it works really good too. Kind of difficult to figure out and use, but once you get the process started, you just keep rollin' with it. Reccomened. Just also make sure you can handle the weight.

From the hills of Fort Tryon, NYC, looking at St. Peters College across the Hudson, it was like I was standing inches from the balcony of the college. WOW. And I was able to see an eagle (or was it a crow) perched in the vicinity of the college. From so far away yet I was so close there.
