Most Helpful Positive Review Barska 8x42
Purchased for axis deer hunting season that begins in February next year. Tested it out in similar terrain as hunting area. Has good contrast to see easily into tree cover. No aparant distortion with heat waves. Pros: Best price for specs. Cons: A little on the heavy side but not a great problem.

Barska 8x42 X Trails are a winner.

by Legacy Reviewer, Written on May 12, 2014
I rarely write reviews, as I am always disappointed with what buy. Product quality at lower prices is seemingly impossible now a days. I bought a few cheaper binoculars and found debris in them. How annoying for someone with ADD to find debris inside the binoculars. I don't want nor do I need binoculars that cost a fortune either. But a few high rated bushnells, well they didn't work, bad focus, dark, and just didn't hold in the hand or eye right. Perinni I thought maybe good, well they had debris if they didn't I may have kinda liked them (I bought ebay ones they had deris as well but they weren't perinni). I bought (2) pairs of these Barskas for under $50 and they work terrific!!! Tad bit heavy but well balanced. And the optics look sharp, crisp, and fast to focus. If I had to recommend one out of about 6 I've tried recently these are them! Not telling the wife or kids anything, looking through these X Trails they were like "WOW they look great!"
Pros: Price, Optics, Focus, Balance

Owned previous weakly constructed Barska binoculars that gave double images. These reverse prism optics are sharply surprising. Excellent & easily obtained sharp focus, these 8x42 Barska's beat my 8x42 roof prisms quick sharp focus ability. They also give a sense of durability. The reversed prism construction gives a higher view since the lens barrels are higher than the eyepieces. I've had situations where I wished I was an inch taller to see something. These binoculars give that inch. This binocular design resembles my Galaxy 12x42 optics from 5 years ago, which are also sharp, but which had a much larger apparent field of view.Tho they appear a bit bulky, the reversed prism Barsha 8x42 cause the binocular width to decrease & they are not as heavy as the Galaxy 12x42 . Do wish the field of view was wider. For a new design, they should focus a lot closer. They are the worst, focusing past infinity a long long way. Adjustments could have been made to allow much closer focus. Many other binoculars do the same miserable thing, just wasting their closer focusing ability. There is good accommodation for eye width distances.
Pros: Very sharp, durable (?). Design gives a higher viewpoint.
Cons: Close focus is 30+feet.
