Legacy Reviewer's Review of Beamshot 1000 Red Laser Sights
Although the ad did not mention or picture it, this laser came packaged with a rail mount.
The laser beam was reasonably bright but Beamshot's claims of 5X or 10X brighter than other models is questionable. Any laser 1/5 as bright as the Ultra model wouldnt even be adequate as a laser pointer.
Just for comparison, this red laser is not as bright as Crimson Trace Laser grips. Of course, it's also not as expensive.
Unfortunately, the first model I received had a problem. The laser beam was split with one main bright spot and another much smaller spot off to the side. Returned this for exchange. The replacement laser worked OK but came packaged with a useless mount even though it had the very same SKU number as the original item. The new mount would not fit on any rail. With some added parts (not included)it could probably be adapted to clamp to a trigger guard. I was told to return everything again. Still waiting for the 2nd exchange unit to arrive.
The Beamshot did not come with an end cap ON/OFF switch. You have to use the pressure switch which has a very short straight (not coiled) cord. Depending on your application this might be a problem.
This laser uses a CR123A battery for longer life and its overall size is about as compact as you can expect with that size battery. I also like the adjustment locking feature. However, depending on you mount and application, that locking screw may be difficult to access without rotating the laser in the mount.
Pros: Bright beam. Adjustment lock screw.
Cons: Defective unit-2 returns-see review
