Patrick Muga's Review of Benchmade Amicus AXIS Assist Fold Knife
My favorite out of the 6 Benchmade knives I own. Easy to open or close one handed, and the S90V steel blade is a PREMIUM blade. Holds it's edge through months of opening boxes, etc. Use that would dull most blades fairly quickly. The handle is a little slim for heavy duty use, but then, that's not what this is made for, nor does it take much effort to slice and dice anything with this blade. GREAT EDC knife. Disappears into your pocket, yet readily accessible. Personally, I never use the double locking mechanism as I haven't found any need for it. You WILL need a ceramic sharpening system to touch it up though... The steel is THAT hard. I strongly recommend Spyderco's "tri-angle" sharpmaker set.
Pros:
- Lightweight
- Stupid sharp, holds edge like nothing else.
- Easy to open & use
Cons:
- Need ceramics to sharpen (is that even a "con"?)
Best Used for:
- EDC
- Dressed up
