Graphite's Review of Benchmade Bugout, 3.24 in Folding Knife
I tricked myself into buying this I had read negative reviews all over the place, figured they were haters, and decided to pull the trigger despite the reviews. I really had convinced myself this knife was gonna be great. I was wrong. I get it, the knife is light, but the handle flex is obvious. The handles are too slippery to make the thumbstuds reliable with a flick. (That is a selling point of Benchmade, don't tell yourself otherwise). When you flick the axis lock "sticks". This in itself is not a big deal but when it is like this brand new you can only imagine it getting worse. The knife just has a general feel of "cheapness" compared to other Benchmade knives like a Mini Barrage. Compare the two side by side and you will see the difference. Forego the weight savings of a sub 2oz knife and get something else.
Pros:
- light
- Thin blade
Cons:
- Cheap feeling
- Axis lock sticks
- Slippery handles
Best Used for:
- On-trail backpacking
- Opening Mountain House meals
- Cutting moleskin
- Cutting duct tape
