being a blackhawk owner of several shirts, holsters, other firearms accessories, and boots, it pains me to write this review. the 2.5 star review is because after only wearing these boots 2 days out of the week for just over 8 hours per shift for 3 months (and approximately 8 miles of walking per shift), the sole has started to separate from the boot. (look at amazon reviews for pictures that are very similar to my issue.) according to blackhawk, this was a problem due to a manufacturer issue and blackhawk should be repairing/replacing them hopefully. its been about 3 weeks now. if it takes considerably longer, or they deny my claim, i will update this review as necessary.
the boots themselves are comfortable, and only took a minimal amount of time to break in (about 7 days). vibram soles are always a plus.
i never got to see if they were waterproof because there has been no snow or rain yet on my shifts.
the boots scuff fairly easily which is kind of disappointing.
the boots also seem to hold in heat/moisture making my feet overheat/sweat a little which seems to be a similar issue according to other reviews.
overall, these boots are ok. being from a small town with nowhere to try on multiple brands, and having owned other blackhawk boots with no issue, i decided to buy them. but for $160 and less than 3 months of wear, i might suggest another brand (or hopefully blackhawk and their manufacturer(s) took care of the issue(s)). or, make sure you have another pair ...
