Most Helpful Negative Review BH Ankel Holster with the Ruger LC9
This was agreat disappointment as I'm a firm Blackhawk fan. The fit is not as described using the supplied retention devices. The quick release tab (QRT) digs into the calf of the leg and becomes extremely uncomfortable to wear in as little as half an hour. The velcro on the QRT does not adhere ...

Works Good

by Don, from CA, United States Written on November 2, 2020
I have used this Ankle Holster several times. I takes awhile to get use to it, but it does have its place. I like the extra strap above to hold it up better, it is almost required. I only use it when I do not feel confortable wearing a in the pants holster. I know my draw would not be very fast, but at least having something is better that nothing.
Pros:
  • Easy to strap it on, with the velcro straps.
Cons:
  • Just have to get use to it.

Blackhawk ankle holster

by Magman 44, from OK, United States Written on December 3, 2016
I bought this for my back up pistol, a Ruger LCP. I had to trim back a curled under strap end as it dug into my leg. I wore it around the house for several hours. I decided to change into work clothes and realize I still had it on. It was that comfortable. If it had not been for the strap problem I would have given it five stars.

Slick Ankle Holster

by Matt, from PA, United States Written on April 4, 2015
Excellent holster for my second piece. The large Velcro strap secures the holster in position and the strap over the back of the pistol keeps it well secured into the holster pocket. The only reason that I didn't give it a five out of five star score is the strap that is used to wrap below your knee to add additional support doesn't fit me. Haven't really needed it anyway, but future editions should allow for larger diameter legs at the knee.
Pros:
  • snug fit
  • comfortable to wear
  • Pistol feels secure
Cons:
  • Support strap at kne is small
Best Used for:
  • backup pistol

BlackHawk Ankle Holster for 5 shot revolver

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on September 5, 2013
I bought this for a J-frame S&W .38. The holster looks exactly like the picture, the below-the-knee support strap is really necessary to keep a gun from falling down to your foot. Even with the strap, a .38 in the holster is pretty bulky; I will have to buy some baggy, long pants to meet the definition of "concealed".
Pros: Materials of good quality
Cons: lots of straps and velcro, definitely not custom

Extremely Pleased

by Michael, Verified Owner from MO, United States Written on July 20, 2013
I have to sit at a desk for long periods of time at work, and IWB holsters get uncomfortable after a few hours of sitting. I bought this to remedy that problem, and I have been very pleased with it. I have very muscular legs, so the buckle is occasionally uncomfortable after around 4 hours, but it isn't too bad. Had my friend with thinner legs try it out, and the buckle didn't bother him at all. Very good product, and a very reasonable price!
Pros: Fairly comfortable, cheap, secure, easily concealable
Cons: More difficult to draw weapon than with IWB

It's the gun stupid

by Legacy Reviewer, from WA, United States Written on October 20, 2012
I bought this to use with an XD-40 subcompact (3"), and initially was very disappointed, but it is the gun that is the problem not the holster. With the XD the holster swayed and sagged and was just plain uncomfortable... Then I tried it with my Kel-Tec PF-9 and it was like it was a completely different rig. It holds the gun close, firm, comfortably. Literally within 10 minutes max I wasn't even aware I had it on. So it's the gun stupid... the fact is that the big bulky XD is just too heavy and too wide for a rig like this, while a thinner gun like the PF-9 works great!
Pros: Cost and ease of use
Cons: velcro can be a little scratchy
