Sniper mat/combo range bag - BlackHawk Tactical Long Gun Pack Mat w/HawkTex

I have a love hat relationship with this sniper bag/mat combo. When I examined many sniper bags on the market I centered on an all purpose bag for use at the range, hunting or hiking. The Blackhawk bag, while not fully developed in each of these areas, is adequate for use with carrying an AR15/10 by expanding side wing. This is a great feature I love about the bag. The nose cone is not suited to protect dirt or other elements from entering the bag and soiling your precious cargo, so this needs to be addressed on any bag modification in the future. The shooters mat is functional in a pinch, but needs to be expanded for the comfort of the hunter. The current size is too small and would not be suitable for a long term prone position. Bag storage is limited to water, your gun, bullets and small food items. So why did I choose this bag? Well it was the only compact sniper bag/mat combo that addressed all of my needs for a range carry bag, sniper mat for hunting and back pack for hiking. The quality of the bag is good; however, a few modifications could easily make this the bag of choice, should the company expand slightly on the mat, protect the cargo at the cone and provide a few more outer pouches and straps. Its a work in progress and one that should get your attention for consideration.

Cons: Small mat/cumbersome and cone open to elements outside
