Smooth as Silk

by Cobbler, Verified Owner from NC, United States Written on September 7, 2014
This is a recent purchase and I used it for the first time for my local steel plate challenge competition and absolutely loved it. Before I drew from a "low ready" position and now I can draw from this holster with speed and confidence. Adjusted properly, the weapon is very smooth coming out, to the point where you feel no drag whatsoever. I changed the Tech-Lok belt attachment to the Blade-Tech adjustable Stingray Loop ASR attachment, much more comfortable for me. I shoot a 4" 625-8 S&W so the barrel is a little short for this holster but it works just fine and the shroud at the muzzle end of the holster cover the barrel enough to protect it and allows you to set the barrel muzzle in first then rotate the frame into the lock with great ease. This is a real winner of a holster......I love it.
Pros:
  • durable
  • Adjustable
  • Smooth
  • well designed
  • Optics Friendly
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • competition

Smoooooooth.....

I used this holster for local plate matches just the other day, first outing with it. The revolver is very smooth coming out. There is ample room for an optic is one chooses to install one, no problem there. I have a 4" 625-8 S&W and it works fine in this holster, only returning the 4" is a little tricky since the barrel does not go all the way into the shrouded section on the end of the holster. With a 5" or 6" barrel one could set the barrel end in first then rotate the frame into the locking part of the holster. This is really not a big deal, you'll get used to it. Personally I didn't like the Blade-Tech Tek-Lok for belt attachment so I purchased the Blade-Tech Stingray Loop ASR attachment, his proved to be much more comfortable for me.
Pros:
  • well built
  • Sturdy
  • Functional
  • Smooth Release
Cons:
  • Please make one for a 4" S&W N-Frame
Best Used for:
  • Quick release competition
