I wanted a training pistol that matched my defensive pistol (fit in the holster). I have a Springfield Armory XDm 9mm 3.8" pistol. I looked and looked for an XDm 9mm 3.8" blue gun, no luck. Springfield Armory currently dose not sell a 40 S&W XDm, but a 40 S&W XDm 3.8" is dimensionally the same as a XDm 9mm 3.8". The XDm 40 S&W blue gun was on sale and is a perfect match to the the XDm 9mm 3.8". I lucked out!
