Lazarus's Review of Bobro Engineering Precision Optic Mount Extended w/30mm Rings

I'll start by saying that IF this mount would work for the specific upper I need it to work on, this woiuld be a five star review giving the mount flying colors. So if you have a standard, mil-spec 1913 picatinny rail to mount your scope to, o wouldn't hesitate to buy this single lever cantilever mount for an LPVO optic.

That said, on a milled/split rail reciever (where the center of the picatinny rail has been milled down to save weight) the mechanical recoil lugs on these mounts loose the ability to make contact with your rail, allowing the mount to potentially slip under recoil. The lug on these mounts expands to take up the tolerance between the pic rail lugs when the mount is tightened, and therefore requires a complete pic lug with which to make contact for proper function.

Unfortunately this wont work for my Fostech upper, as well as many billet uppers, and even some machined forged uppers may not work. ANY 100% mil spec pic rail WILL work.

So, while I have to exchange THIS mount for something different to suit a very particular pic rail, I will certainly look to Bobro first for future builds, and will take the Bobro required rail into account when choosing uppers, as this really is the absolute best QD option in my opinion. Honestly I'm notmally not one to deviate too much from basic in spec receivers, but when going lightweight, all bets are off and trial and error are king and queen. Will be switching to a GG&G bolt on option w/nuts, not screws, as I have issue with every other QD mechanism on the market in this price range (have yet to try more expensive offerings, as for $200 ish dollars Bobro is where its at). I also learned that while nice, I dont necessarily NEED the QD option for my purpose (LPVO on Recce style rifle with backup folding irons)
