My first REAL tripod
Made in Italy, very good quality feel. No more shakes when spotting. Highly recommended.

Manfrotto Bogen 055XB, 128RC Tripod and Head Kit
I use this tripod with a scope for birding. I chose this model because I observed that many other experienced birders with good scopes were using this tripod and head, and I found that their systems worked well. Also this head works well with Swarovski scopes and I intend to buy one when I upgrade my present system.
Pros: Stable with easy, smooth operation and robust construction
Cons: It is not light but this also is an advantage in windy conditions
