Most Helpful Negative Review Boyd’s Thumbhole savage 220
This is my first Boyd’s stock to start off with. I set my barreled action in it and it dropped in great but you could rock it back and forth between the action screws so I decided to pillar and glass bed it. When I went to assemble the bottom metal the trigger guard very very snug and when I went to...

READ Description, Does not fit all Savage 220s

by NFiore02, Verified Owner from MA, United States Written on December 16, 2024
The title of the product should be changed to note the different fitments. the savage 220 slug gun released newer version(I bought mine in 2022) that has a longer floorplate and does not fit this stock. ALSO, the green is alot brighter and closer to lime green than forrest green.
Pros:
  • None
Cons:
  • Fitament

drop in fit for the older model

by tony, Verified Owner from VA, United States Written on March 7, 2024
I picked up an older model Savage 220 with the simple synthetic stock. I saw this on here and figured it was worth a shot for 160. Was not disappointed. The wood coloring was great, and it was a straight drop in fit. Once the screws were tightened there was zero movement. Having an extra sling swivel up front is great for incorporating a bi-pod if I felt inclined. Only negative is the trigger seems to be set slightly forward in comparison to the factory stock. It's minor but worth mentioning. I still recommend the stock.

Turned my Savage 220 into a great shooting slug gun

by bosct, Verified Owner from CT, United States Written on June 17, 2023
I have the older model Savage 220 with the cheap bare bottom plastic stock. I finally got fed up with the inconsistencies of my groups and found this Boyd stock. I saw some of the not so good reviews, but I had absolutely no problems. The stock fit my gun perfectly, and turned my 220 into a great shooter without any glass bedding necessary. I am very happy with the way my Savage 220 shoots because of this Boyd stock.

Bad fit was not completely done!

by Noah, Verified Owner from MO, United States Written on March 31, 2023
I bought this stock thinking it would just drop right in. Absolutely not! I have to dremel about half an inch just to get the magazine holder in. Then I had to do the same to get the trigger guard in. Not happy about it but was able to adjust to make it work.

There are 2 models now!

by SteveO, Verified Owner from IL, United States Written on January 12, 2022
The stock was beautiful but would not fit my Savage 220. Apparently Savage is now making these guns with long action and a regular base plate and an extended base plate. This particular model will fit the regular base plate but not the extended. Make sure you know which gun you have before trying to order.
Pros:
  • Fast shipping, looked great.
Cons:
  • did not fit
Best Used for:
  • Savage 220 long action regular plate
