Most Helpful Positive Review Savage stock
It works. Does require some fitting. Get your Dremel out. Color is fine, British Black spray works after fitting. Price was good, on special. Fast shipping. Not sure about Boyds bad reviews on utub. But consider the source.

Much Better Than OEM

by BJZ, Verified Owner from MT, United States Written on July 9, 2024
The bottom line was that the OEM Savage Axis stock was as cheap as they come, so it wasn't hard to do better. I like this stock, but I have some premium aftermarket stocks on my primary hunting rifles and they far exceed this Boyd's stock. HOWEVER, I did not need an $800+ carbon fiber stock on an action that didn't even cost that much. This Boyd's stock was the right choice, and not nearly as heavy as the Magpul stocks for the Savage Axis. This Boyd's stock takes some adjustment each time I remove the barreled action for upgrades or adjustment, but as long as you know this going in, all is good. Optics Planet has this stock at a great price-point, I added this, a Timney trigger, some Leupold glass and new rings and this little Savage Axis is ready for deer and antelope harvesting. I also went back to Boyd's for the metal trigger guard and magazine catch.

Inexpensive stock that works....

by Kellogg, from MI, United States Written on May 9, 2020
Overall a great stock needed to sand the magazine area, the barrel channel and the receiver section to make rifle fit without anything touching. I am very happy with the stock for the price point. Added an adjustable check piece to make it even better.

Sturdy does the job

by Leo, from TX, United States Written on September 19, 2018
Needs some sanding and with the dremel some touch ups. But after pillar bedding and glass bedding a savage axis it is a tack driver. I’m seeing sub MOA groups with hand loaded ammunition. The price isn’t bad either
Pros:
  • Sturdy
Cons:
  • Needs some small work
