Rob the independent semi-liberal moderate's Review of Bravo Company MFG MK2 Receiver Extension

For use with rifle buffer spring, A5 length buffer (or equivalent) on an AR-15. This is not a standard carbine buffer tube.

The 8" internal length allows a rifle buffer spring and a longer and potentially heavier buffer. The longer buffer system mimics the less-finicky original AR-15 rifle length buffer + tube setup, but in a shorter package. This "opens the operational envelope" -- that is, it puts the spring's force is more consistent through the cycle, creating a smoother cycle and allowing the system to tolerate other parts being further toward the limits of their specifications.

All that said about the A5 buffer system, this specific buffer tube is a quality blue-collar solution. The anodization is thick and hard matte black. The inside has the appropriate dry-film lube coating. At the inside the base of the tube, there's a puddle of this coating, but it doesn't affect function. The manufacture and finish are excellent.

There's a few places where this product could contain some simple user-friendly design upgrades that other A5 tubes come with standard. As another reviewer mentioned, it would be nice if the tube were designed with a cutout for the buffer retainer, to ease in alignment during installation. Also, the tube has 8 positions for adjusting a stock, but the rear most isn't at the rear of the stock. The track for the stock position holes terminates short of the rear of the tube. A design that moves the last adjustment position hole to the rear of the tube would allow more versatility for the end user (an additional ~3/8" to LOP). Other A5 length tubes have an adjustment position all the way at the rear, like a standard carbine tube, giving them the ability to go from notably shorter to notably longer than an AR fixed length A2 stock. The machining time already includes a complex rear that would take as long to cut as another position hole, so there's no downside in production time if it had been a 9 position design.

But, that's being picky. This is strong, sturdy, and reliable 7075-T6 aluminum A5/Vltor length buffer tube. Make sure your other buffer components are the right ones, and use with confidence.
