Expert Review More streamlined, same performance - Breek Arms Sledgehammer LE/MIL Small Latch Charging Handle

I chose the LE Latch Omni-Buster because my plate carrier and sling kept hanging up on the latches of my previous charging handle. This version has narrower, lower-profile paddles on each side, and I could tell right away that the snagging problem was gone once I started moving around my gear. Installation was still a straightforward, tool-free swap into my mil-spec upper, and the internal gas-fighting design — the raised shelf at the rear, the keyway notch, and the vent ports — matches what's in the standard Omni-Buster, so I got the same reduction in gas hitting my face when shooting suppressed or from my weak-side shoulder.

Construction quality held up just as well: the anodized 7075 aluminum shows no wear after regular use. Despite the trimmed-down latches, I was still able to work the bolt one-handed from either side without any hassle. Pricing landed around $70–80, matching the standard model, so the LE-style latches didn't cost me a premium.

The compromise is in the grip — the smaller paddles don't offer quite the same leverage as the bigger latches on the regular version, so running it bare-handed feels a touch less positive. Gas isn't fully eliminated either, just significantly reduced. Given how I typically use my rifle, though, this was the better fit for me.
