Steve's Review of Browning Pheasants Forever Jacket w/o Logo

This coat would have gotten more stars with just a few modifications, as a real upland field coat it fails. First the blaze orange fabric should also have been canvas not a poly/cotton or all polyester whichever it may be but it's obviously not canvas. I otter wax/oil all my canvas apparel since I can't afford the really nice stuff that starts with an F, and you can't wax polyester or polyester blends and with the coats lining you can't wax the shoulder area from the inside. So therefore no waterproofing for a highly vulnerable part of the coat. Second the snaps are horrible! Such sissy snaps on a coat used under strenuous activity didn't even hold the storm flap closed when I put my hands in the pockets let alone with any shoulder movement like mounting a shotgun. Those same snaps on the cuffs were also annoyingly unsnapped nearly 100% of the time. Heavy duty snaps like those used on leather and horse tack or Velcro would have served better. Third the shell loops should have been like the original coats that had a panel that could ride inside or outside the pocket. This allows for easier access and also the ease of replacing the elastic when it wears out and no longer holds shells securely. An even better concept would be the panels with small canvas straps with Velcro and attached through small d-rings, to be able to purchase as an accessory and keep extras handy for using with different gauges of shotguns. I only walked around my farm wearing the coat and found all these issues I wonder where else it will fall short when I take to the field for Phez!
