Stop bashing this knife just for it's orgin - Buck Knives Selkirk Survival 4.63in Fixed Blade Knife

Let's get this out of the way. This knife is made in China. I would prefer it be made in the US like most Buck Knives. I don't know why it wasn't. I imagine it would cost more if it were. Probably upwards of $100 like the Padre which is Buck's recommendation for a US made knife that is similar. It doesn't cost that much though. It is significantly less, because it is made in China.

That said, this is a very well made knife in it's price range. The fit and finish are excellent. The Handle is very comfortable. The blade came very sharp. It still carries the Buck Forever warranty. Per Buck's website it has the Bos heat treat like the US made knives.

I own a LOT of Buck brand knives from the venerable 119 to some of their less traditional designs like the 060 Hoodlum and 808 Talon. All of them are US made except my Selkirks. But when you compare them for fit and finish, there is no difference. The Selkirks are right at home with the other knives and they deserve the Buck name like all the others.

I did take one star off because I do wish it was a US made knife. That's really my only complaint about it. But that is only one characteristic. Otherwise, it's a fine knife, especially for its price range. Please stop trashing this knife based on one single characteristic and evaluate it as a knife and not simply for where it was manufactured.
