Ballistic cq mil reticle bridges the gap. - Burris XTR II 1.5-8x28 Rifle Scope

This review is for the ballistic CQ Mil reticle. It's a great, versatile scope with outstanding glass albeit a narrow eye box at full power. As it turns out the CQ Mil reticle is the cheapest option for the XTR II but can fill the most roles, if you aren't too lazy to figure out your DOPE for the rifle you have it on. This is the best scope i have found for bridging the gap between CQB and precision shots at distance. At 1.5 power, with the illumination on, it's serviceable as a reflex site similar to an Eotech with its circular horse shoe and fine 1/4 MOA dot. Unlike the much cheaper Primary Arms scopes however... if your battery is dead, i don't think this is a serviceable CQB optic. The PA has a dark black ring that is easily visible in daylight, making it serviceable as a CQB / reflex site even without illumination. The Burris is not dark and isn't ideal for reflexive firing without illumination. So in a SHTF scenario... or even as a self defense optic it would be a poor choice due to battery dependence for use but could work in a pinch or when you absolutely KNOW you have a fresh battery. Check battery life and also verify that through your own use and experience. Where the scope comes into its own is at moderate (300 yards) to long range distance (1,000 yards). The glass is exceptionally clear and the mil hash marks are fantastic and are numbered. There are horizontal hash marks for wind holds. Only thing about 8x is that you've gotta be right on that scope without moving or you will lose your site picture.
