CrablegJr's Review of Burris Signature HD Scope 3-15x44mm 1 in Tube Second Focal Plane Rifle Scope

Let me start by saying I'm a camera guy so image quality is a big thing for me which this scope nails not only considering what I paid but in comparison to some stuff above its price range. This scope is definitely a great buy for those looking for a hunting scope with a little more than a basic scope but not over complicated like PRS scope in terms of busy reticles in FFp. It provides well appreciated features like zero stop pop cap turrets which is greatly appreciated at 500$ price point on a second focal plane/rear focal plane scope which will not be used for in scope hold overs but instead dialing for corrections. I was once trying to get best bang for buck and was close to getting FFP scopes like Primary Arms SLX 3-18 gen 2 Arken EP4L 4-16 and Vortex Diamondback Tactical 4-16 but decided the FFP feature just isn't needed for hunting/bench shooting gun where dialing corrections is more than ample and the smaller retinal at low magnification will pose as hinderance in some applications. The decision was also made because clearer glass seems more of a focus with Burris since most their optics are USA made and use Japanese glass down to the low end optics and the more recent signature HD line is made in china but assuming the company stays to its standards shouldn't be a a problem. The other optics mentioned can be seen having a lot more chromatic aberration and more inconsistent quality control The other options I listed are nearly double or more in weight which for hunting build not as much appreciated. If this scope is purchased at sale price of around 500 or less it's more than worth it and I thinks beats everything around that price but if paying more than 500 a few more options become available for only a little more or my previous choices glass quality will negate that cost and give a better deal overall. A simpler scope with potentially better quality and lighter weight will come from Leopold but cost will be a lot more compared to the features you get which makes the value less unless those are the only two things that matter to you. For me I wanted the most I can get in a scope without compromising on a certain level of optical quality and maintaining the ability to hunt without limitations of having or lacking certain features.
