Most Helpful Negative Review Burris Eliminator 3 Scope
My name is Reg and I own a farm in Australia. I had the first Eliminator 3 in Australia which is mounted on my Ruger M77VT 6.5mm Creedmoor which I use in a farming situation for long range pest destruction. Problems I encountered: 1. After about 300 sightings the scope refused to work and would ...

Eliminator III LaserScope 4-16x50 mm Rifle Scope

by James, Verified Owner from FL, United States Written on July 8, 2023
Bought it for my 300 Weatherby Magnum and was able to take a nice 4x4 mule deer at 538 yards. So yeah, it works extremely well, and I would highly recommend it. Be sure to plan on taking a good half day at the range to get it dialed in properly and to become familiar with it. It is worth every penny.

Tested on 300RUM

by Accross the canyon kill in Wyoming, Verified Owner from WY, United States Written on December 18, 2022
I got this Eliminator 3 a couple of weeks ago and just got it to the range today for a 100yd zero. Mounted it on the rifle with Burris tactical bases and used the -20 MOA front shim supplied with the scope on the front mount to get a solid metal fit on the front mount. Bore sighted a little higher than I like to start with, but left to right was fine. Realize the Eliminator 4 is out there, but I figured the 3 is plenty of an advantage for hunting. Put it on paper and it can definitely handle recoil, grouped very well. Next is to test it at 750 yards and see if the on-line Burris ballistic chart is accurate for my reloads. 1 inch 5- shot group, included a picture with my review. Great scope Burris produced and I would put one on one of my other rifles once I recover from the cost of this scope. Maybe try a4 next time.

Excellent Scope, Phenomenal Capability

by Martin, Verified Owner from NE, United States Written on June 3, 2022
I was able to take an oryx at 325 yards with a single .308 round using this scope. The oryx only ran about 100 yards before dropping, a clean double lung shot. I purchased the scope several months before the hunt, taking it to the rifle range, shooting off of sticks to prepare for the hunt. Easy to program, it zeroes just like any other scope. Shifting from target to target at various ranges is almost effortless. Shot technique is still critical, but this scope's range finder and drop indicator remove one significant source of error out of the hunting process. I highly recommend it.
Pros:
  • Superb accuracy, ease of use
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • hunting

Burris Eliminator

by JD, from IN, United States Written on March 11, 2022
Great scope. Easy mounting can’t go wrong with rail mounting application. Easy to set up scope. Online ballistic computer that Burris offers is very informative and has a lot of options. The glass is really clear but it’s not top of the pinnacle clear. Overall for the money it’s a great purchase. It definitely takes a lot of stress out of a high pressure shot.

by Jaz, from OK, United States Written on December 30, 2021
Focusing the scope doesn’t as work as well during early morning and late evening due to low light ambience. But it works great at other times. The range finder was spot on. It was fast and accurate. The ballistic setup also works great.
Pros:
  • Ranging is excellent
Cons:
  • Ambient light is an issue late evening and early morning.
Best Used for:
  • Deer Hunting

Disappointed at best

by Ray, from FL, United States Written on November 14, 2021
Bought this optic 6 weeks ago. Just able to get to the range. One hour and a box of 300 wsm later, the scope is out of elevation adjustment and 7 inches low at 100 yds. Called Optics Planet and was told it was after 30 days and they would do nothing. Send it to Buriss. So, I am now getting a rma to return. I seldom complain, but optics planet sent me an email requesting my feedback in exchange for a discount......so here ya go !

Take care of Semperfi

by OldCavSoldier, from MO, United States Written on October 21, 2021
Was Shocked to read semperfi’s review. I was fixing to purchase this scope but wanted to check the reviews real quick. So glad I did. $1000 is a chuck of change, considering it’s more than I spent on the gun. I have another Burris scope that I Love, but maybe this technology needs sum more time to improve. I think I’ll just slow my roll for now. Thanks for the review

The Burris Eliminator is a great scope for the money. The scope is very easy to use. This is the second one I have bought. Bought this one for my wife so she wouldn’t keep wanting to use mine. Would recommend this to anyone.

The Burris warranty should be "Don't Ask"

by semperfi, from FL, United States Written on July 16, 2021
I bought the Eliminator III, based on the training videos, advertising, warranty, and reviews. I was expecting to mount the scope, sight the scope in at 100 yds, input my ballistic data into the Burris software to get the drop number and BC. Taking into consideration that the temperature, altitude, and muzzle velocity. After that, it was aim and shoot. This may be true for many customers, but not for me. I have had problems with my scope not calculating the correct hold-over. In other words, my bullet drops e.g. 37 inches at 500 yds, but my scope calculates the drop as 32”. Burris does not see this as a problem because it’s within one MOA. Unfortunately, that drop error is three time that at 750 yds. Burris technician suggested that I chronograph my cartridge to make sure of the muzzle velocity, mount the scope and shoot it at various ranges. In addition, I should shoot at 750 yds to make the necessary adjustments. I for one do not have access to a range of 750 yards. But I was told to try it at 400-500 yds by adjusting the BC and drop numbers until I get on target. So far, this does not appear to be the simple “Range em and eliminate em” Burris ads show us.
After spending a lot of money on a chronograph, equipment, premium ammo, and membership to a shooting club that has a long range, the test results are the same as what I had mentioned before to Burris. The actual velocity was off by less than 50 fps on both cartridges tested. A difference of less than 2 ...
