Legacy Reviewer's Review of OpticsPlanet Exclusive Burris AR-332 Prism 3x32mm Ballistic CQ Reticle Red Dot Sight

Let me start by saying after buying this scope I fail to understand why tactical scopes are so inflated in price. Other hunting scopes I have purchased around this price range have had much higher quality glass. However, I realize that those hunting scopes don't have reticles that light up in two different colors either. So I ask myself why does the reticle need to light up? I assume the answer is for low light situations. However, when using this scope inside w/ the reticle illuminated in either color, at any setting, there is a bad glare inside the scope of whichever color you have it set on. When using the scope outside the glare is not a problem. And I can't seem to find a preference on which color so I find myself leaving the reticle on black. Also the rails on the scope are purely for looks. OK, enough bashing the tacticoolness of this scope. When mounting the scope I did break one if the bolts that mount the scope to the rail. This was however solely my fault for overtightening. I made sure for review sake that even with the mount the scope comes with the reticle was not canted in any way. After breaking the mount I purchased a GG&G ACOG accucam mount and it works perfectly with the Burris AR-332. Sighting in the scope was a snap at 100 yards. Only took about 6 shots. Now to speak to the reticle: from 0-50 yards the reticle was perfect for acquiring silhouette size targets. After that the reticle begins to get a little busy. I have not shot past 100 yards yet because I know that the bullet drop compensator (BDC) marks on the reticle can't be correct because I can't find a ballistic chart that says .223 bullets start to drop at 200 yards. So it will take some time to figure out exactly what yardages the BDC dots represent. Which let's be honest, this is to be expected since we all don't shoot exactly the same .223 loads. To sum up my review of this scope I bought it for an all around 0-500 yards scope. I have come to the realization that a 0-500 yard scope that can shoot a 6" pattern at every distance in between probably doesn't exist. Or at least not in this price range. But for the price of tactical scopes and in the spirit of not being a gear snob I would recommend this scope to a guy on a budget. It is fixed 3X, it does have a BDC, and the glass is decent.
Pros: Decent glass
Cons: Broke the mount during installation
