The horseman's Review of Burris AR-536 Prism 5x 36mm Tactical Red Dot Sight, Ballistic CQ Reticle

This review is for anyone thinking of comparing this to an ACOG. This is not meant to be an ACOG. The only thing that an ACOG has that's better than this or any other medium range dot or scope is not needing a battery period. This has better magnification, costs way less and is of equal quality. Too many people buy into the story that if the military uses it it must be the best there is. That should be true but is far from it. Sadly all of the companies that do business with government agencies cash in on this fantasy and charge both government agencies and civilians outrageous amounts of money for products no better than many other companies. This process should be outlawed and labeled price gouging or similar. Yes ACOGs are good scopes but not better than this optic or many others. As mentioned the only feature an ACOG has that is unique is the ability to use in low light without needing a battery. Nothing fancy really there since fiber optic technology has been around for decades. Given a choice many soldiers would opt for various other options as to optics and any other gear provided. It's a money and contract game that has no concern for lives at stake.
Pros:
  • Glass quality, great reticle, multi distance target acquisition, battery life
Cons:
  • Finish options
Best Used for:
  • Whatever you want to do with it
