Deputy sheriff - Burris FastFire II Reflex Red Dot Sight, 4 MOA Reticle, Black, 300233

During a recent training school, a few guys had reflex sights on their pistols. Witnessing for myself their superior accuracy and speed transitioning targets, I was convinced.

My SO does not purchase such accessories but does not prevent Deputies from doing so. It was on me to decide if this was a worthy investment. After a lot of research I bought this one as:
(A) it’s Burris. It is a brand of good reputation
(B) I got it and the mounting base for a reasonable price through OpticsPlanet compared to other brands.

I mounted this myself and went out to get it set for action. I went through ALL the ammo I brought with me. Not because it was difficult to set but because I was thrilled. It was so much fun to shoot! I could see and feel immediate improvement. I am a good shot but this was better.

Bad news, I dropped my pistol on a sidewalk about two weeks later. It landed on the sight. I took it out to retest it? Zero is perfect. Cosmetic damage but this sight endured.

What you need to know?

- It’s an older generation. It doesn’t have the auto start from motion and it doesn’t automatically shut off if you leave it on. What I have found is that with some practice and repetition I can easily flip it on coming out of the holster with my thumb.

- If you are left handed, it won’t be as easy to operate. The switch is in a good position for the thumb to access for right handed shooters.

- The 4 MOA dot is completely adequate for tactical pistol shooting. I was worried about that. Fear not.

- If you are a serious shooter, it’s perfectly economical to keep extra batteries and change them out as a matter of routine maintenance to prevent the possibility of the battery failing in a shoot situation.

- I use the protective shroud even while on duty to protect the glass. Again, with some practice, I can easily flip it off as I’m coming to target.

- As for instant reaction, If I’m too close to have time to turn it on and flip the hood, I wouldn’t be looking at my sights anyway. I would be shooting coming up as it would have to be a point blank situation.

Great value for the money. Improves all levels of shooters. If you can field strip your pistol, you have the skills to mount this yourself. Easy to set.
