Most Helpful Positive Review execllent chioce for mid priced optic
For the money this is a very clear, reliable optic always returns to zero every time. I can only think of one negative, the main body tube is 34 mm not a wide choice of rings compared to 30mm scopes. I have this optic on an AR 10 308 which I use warne unitary rings in Zomibe green.

Burris Xtreme Tactical Scope 4-20X50mm

by Bryan, Verified Owner from SC, United States Written on April 9, 2024
My first impressions of the scope are very good. The scope was extremely well packaged and includes the sun shade and flip-up caps. The turrets feel solid and hold their position; the focus ring is smooth and zooms in/out without any issues and I really like having the option of an illuminated reticle for lower light applications. During my initial shopping, I cross compared this scope to several scopes including Night-Force, Leopold, Steiner and Vortex and feel like this is super value and solid built scope with the mil-radian SCT reticle for accurate long distance engagements.

Burris Xtreme Tactical 4-20x50 mm

by Greg, Verified Owner from MO, United States Written on January 25, 2024
I had a Leupold MK 4 8.5X25 and sold it due to some issues. I have mounted this scope but not shot it yet. Glass and reticle are amazing. Adjustments are smooth and consistent. Great eye relief and allows me to keep a consistent stockweld when making power adjustments; something the Leupold would not do. It is a tad heavy but that is to be expected.
Pros:
  • glass clearity
Cons:
  • weight

Sweet Optic!

by Matt Burgess, Verified Owner from SC, United States Written on August 8, 2023
I have this scope mounted on a Bergara chambered in 308. The glass has great clarity and quality. And it picks up a ton of light when shooting in low light situations. Once you get this scope sighted in, it will continue to perform for you. I love the FFP system that this scope offers and it is very useful when changing magnifications and not needing to worry about the accuracy of each of the features offered by Burris in this scope. This is my first Burris scope I have purchased, but this has certainly made me a fan and I will be purchasing more.
Pros:
  • front focal plane
  • clarirty
  • Illuminated recticle
  • zero stop turret
Cons:
  • can require careful attention sighting in
Best Used for:
  • long range applications

First time buying a Burris. I have not shot this rifle yet with this scope, but I can't wait. Very well built. Super nice glass. Compatible to many of my high end scopes. Feels very solid. Adjustments are clean and crisp.
Pros:
  • Price over some other high end glass
Cons:
  • none yet
Best Used for:
  • Hunting, plinking, competition, personal and home defense.

Good scope for long range hunting

by xc120, Verified Owner from NY, United States Written on May 14, 2018
This is not a cheap scope, but it is not supposed to be for this kind of category of shooting. It has all necessary futures for long range shooting (for the price). I did not hunt with it, yet, but did shoot on the property for about 300 yards and was satisfied with results.
Best Used for:
  • up to 600 yards

by Phantom, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on September 19, 2017
This is my second burris scope from optics planet the first one was the veracity 4-20 by 50 in a varmint reticle on a 30mm tube that I love it nice and clear I like it so much I decided to buy another one from Burris more for long range shooting so I went with this XTR 4-20 by 50 with the SCR MOA reticle on a 34mm tube and man what a difference the illumination is great and the precision of the reticle to dials is awesome

Great scope...

by Mike in Wis., from WI, United States Written on July 8, 2017
For it's price point, this is one of, if not THE best scope available. It has decent optic quality and completely repeatable adjustments. The addition of a first focal plain reticle is added value. Light gathering and available elevation, thanks to the 34mm tube, is excellent.

Burris Xtreme Tactical

by Hershel Rhodes, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on May 24, 2017
This scope is exactly what I was looking for on my new rifle. The glass is crisp, clear and bright. The FFP is awesome. I put this on my Rem 700 in 308 and the 600-800 yard targets are easy to index. The MOA reticle is a breeze to use. I did some low light shooting and set the illuminated reticle on low and the sight picture was without a blemish. Great scope and a great warranty!!
