Formual300ss's Review of Burris Xtreme Tactical 5-25x50mm 34mm Tube First Focal Plane Rifle Scope
I originally ordered the Vortex PST 6-24 in MRAD. A sales person called me and said the Vortex models were not yet shipping and that I was number 250 on the waiting list and to allow six weeks for delivery. (Yes, I too believe six weeks really means six months). He offered the Burris as a substitute claiming this was a significant upgrade in optics quality for the same price. After researching the Burris, I agreed and received it via USmail six days later. It was promised in two days but they sent it snail mail....really?
After all of that, I am very happy with the Burris. I find it harder to focus exactly right for me, both parallax and objective than the Vortex and I like the reticle on the Vortex better although the reticle on the Burris works fine for what I use it for. The optic quality is very good tho at high magnification the edges of the field of view are somewhat fuzzy, a problem with most high mag optics.
I wish the reticle had an opening in the crosshairs so you could actually see the target dot instead of obscuring it but that is a pretty minor issue. Overall I rate this Burris as 4.5/5. The 34mm tube lets in a lot of light. I have used Burris since the late 70's and still have all of them and they still as good as the day I bought them. Quality is outstanding. Hope this helps you out.
