Could not get my Savage 10ML II to hold zero for more than a few shots. I suspected the scope and checked it on another rifle and it was fine , so next I changed the mount system from all aluninum to the Burris all steel bases and steel rings. Rifle now shoots 1 1/2" groups @ 100yds and stays zeroed. Much better than the 5-6"groups with the aluminum mount system. The only problem with the fit of the Burris tactical steel basees , is that the front base rested slightly over top and touching the recoil lug, not allowing it to mount perfectly flat on the reciever. I modified the mount by chamfering the lower front edge of the base with sandpaper until it did not touch. Still very pleased with it.
Pros: stronger, keeps rings tight to base, more cross slots for ring mount positioning
Cons: front base touched top of recoil lug , but easy fix
