Catastrophic failure - Bushnell Banner 6-24x 40mm Rifle Scope, Mil Dot Reticle

I bought this scope to put on a rifle chambered in .270 Winchester. The scope mounted up fine and fit,finish, and clarity were good. The problem came when I began sighting in the rifle. I first bore sighted it then took it to the range. On the third shot the elevatyion drum tore out of the scope and bounced off the bench. You can imagine my disappointment. I contacted Bushnell and was told to send the scope to them for"SERVICE". I explained that I wanted a new scope and was informed that it would take up to 3 months to recieve that model scope. After 3 weeks of heated telephone conversations I agreed to accept a different model scope which has worked out OK. I own several other Bushnell scopes and have never had issues with them but I would not recommend this model to anyone.
