The GPS is a little slow when initiating, taking a couple of minutes on average. This is not a problem in a survival situation, of course. battery inducator

I found the battery indicator to be way off my unit showed full power but would not turn on. When batteries were changed unit started to work again .I would not trust indicator.set up an annual battery change say at the beginning of hunting season or as you would typically start to use your tracker

Bushnell GPS don't leave camp without it

This little device is what everyone needs when they are hiking or camping in a new area or wherever they may become disoriented. The batteries can be changed without losing the original settings.
Pros: easy to use, gets one within 50 yards, price
Cons: only stores three positions at a time

Bushness GPS don't leave camp without it

This is an excellent little device for insurance when camping in new territory. It often takes a minute or two to get started and sometimes initial activation seems to be delayed when surrounded by tall trees. Once it is active for the day, it comes back on line down the trail more quickly. It also remembers memory points indefinitely, at least for months at a time when the battery is left in.
Pros: simple, good battery life, accurate to 50 yards
Cons: only three memory positions at one time

Best for Hiking/boating

I bought this for our pre-teen grandsons to use hiking in the north GA trails. I set it before they go then turn it off to save the batteries. When and if they need it to get home, they turn it on and follow the arrow. Easy, reliable, safety device. It seems rugged, too.

A backtrack Busnell personal locator for an hunter and mushrooms searcher

I like very much to spend my free days among woods of my Country (northern of Italy) for hunting with my rest dog (spinone italiano) and for collect mushrooms (boletus edulis). When the fog or low clouds drop down in autumn, my Bushnell Backtrack is a precious help to go back at home.Even a mountain expert can fail in the fog, but with the Backtrak direction is assured.
