tlr-1 light

Written on Jan 23, 2025

This is the second one I’ve purchased. One in black one in FDE. These are great. Incredibly reliable. Batteries last in a long time. I carry one on my bear gun Glock 10 MM. And one on a 9M. These things are the best option in my opinion. Reasonably priced, though they are not cheap. But you do get what you pay for. If and when you need it, it will be ready.

hornady modified case .308 Win

I have dozens of these. There are other ways of getting the same info that these help you give… but none of them are easier.

I’ve used these forever. It also helps me gauge how fast my throat is eroding in each barrel with a bore scope.

Hawkins ultralight rings

Written on Dec 20, 2023

These things are awesome. Thats all there is to it. They’re very lightweight, but incredible sturdy. This is my third set of these. I’ve got these on short and long action magnums and on an ultralight rifle setup and they’ve withstood hundreds probably thousands of rounds without a POI shift.
I’ve got two pair of these on the Zeiss LRP S5 5-25 scopes (the biggest scopes out there basically) and another pair on a Niteforce NX8 4-32X50 on an ultraligjt 300 PRC with carbon barrel and carbon MDT HNT26 chassis… the whole gun weighs less than 9 lbs and they’ve held up perfectly. I’d absolutely recommend these rings and they don’t get enough credit.

I was worried at first that the bubble on top of the rear ring wouldn’t be great, but I can see it perfectly with ouch coming out of my shooting position before I squeeze the trigger.

I’ve backpack hunted a lot with these as well and they’re very sturdy.

Forster bushing bump neck die

Written on Dec 14, 2023

I own probably 6-7 of these and every one of them produces great, match quality performance. I love Forster dies in general. I like the bushing dies as I can control neck tension this way. It’s more complicated than a full length (non bushing) sizing die, but my brass lasts longer and my ES tightens up a little bit vs non bushing sizing dies.

I love the value with Forster dies. They’re more affordable than other brands but just as good in my opinion. I’ve used these for a long time and am completely happy with them.

Update to my initial review on ZP5

Written on Mar 07, 2021

I forgot to clarify that the other review to this scope has some info that is misleading as far as the the 2nd turn not being visual on this scope. That is not correct. Once you complete the first turn you get more resistance as you end the first turn. I love this as there is no mistaking that you are entering the 2nd turn. This is innovative as you don’t have to watch it carefully in case you’re dialing in a hurry. You also have two distinct holes that are black in color on the first turn but once you hit the second turn the holes are filled white in color... they are different than the Schmidt Bender which turns yellow on 2nd turn. I prefer the Minox in this aspect as it’s indicators are beneath the turret vs the S&B which has them at the top of the dial. They both work effectively though the Minox doesn’t need to be taller to indicate the 2nd turn. I’m not sure why but I don’t see a place to add a picture which would help clarify what I’m saying. This is my most favorite scope I own and I have a lot.

Zp5 5-25x56 amazing scope

Written on Mar 06, 2021

First of all, I’ve had this scope for a year or so now and have become very familiar with it. I own 8 or 9 scopes in the range of $1,500-3,600 including S&B PMII, Mark 5 7-35, Vx-6, XRS II 4.5-30 all of which have great glass... but none of them are as good as this glass! I love this MR4 reticle! I love (LOVE!!!) this floating dot. It is perfect for having holdovers but not so busy That you can still use it for hunting unlike the tremor 3 (I own 3 scopes w this ret and love it but not for hunting) if you so desired. It has worked fantastic for long range and extended long range on heavy caliber rifle for me. I’ve also used it in a competition RIMX 22 LR and parallax is awesome though starts @ 50m. I love the feel of the turrets and can easily dial 100 clicks blindfolded and return to zero by feel alone.
I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised with this scope. I’d heard of Minox but had no idea this scope was as potent as it is. The ring turns with total smoothness and has the perfect tension IMO.
Tracking tests have been completely consistent every time.
I am always looking for something new and up and coming and have got to say I’m glad I rolled the dice on the ZP5. It’s aesthetically beautiful and I love that I don’t see all the guys at my range with the matching hat and shirts like I do w another certain brand as I don’t like doing what everybody else is doing. The caps are first rate as well not that that matters too much. I literally love everything about this
