So, so accuracy! Not great!

Written on Dec 08, 2025

I recently ran out of the Browning 6.8 Western ammo I was shooting .75" moa with and Winchester appears to have stopped making it as I can't find it in stock anywhere. That being said, I purchased a box of the 170gr power point's and a box of the 170gr silver tips. I noticed the tips were bent/smashed on about every other cartridge in the box. I started shooting thinking it wouldn't make a big difference, and after about 10 shots I noticed there was no consistency. One shot would be around the bullseye, and the next shot would be 7-8 inches high or low. Some shots would even go left or right 7-8 inches. I then tried shooting the silver tips and did not have issues with flyer's going all over the place. I was able to put a three shot group in about a 1.5-2 inch circle with those. Not great results either compared to what I was getting before. My son missed a nice 8 point yesterday morning with his 6.5 creedmore x-bolt and he was also shooting power points. We shot his gun and had the same issues with the Winchester ammo. Guess we will start shooting the Hornady ammo out of his 6.5 creedmore again. Absolutely unacceptable and a giant waste of money. No way I'm giving Winchester/Browning anymore business. Too many better options out there to waste money on such a poorly made product!!!
