Now that I've had this scope for a few months. I decided to write a review. This is my second Vortex scope. It comes included in the box with a Sun Shade, lens caps, throw lever, cleaning cloth and plenty of paperwork. The scope is very heavy and much larger than I had expected. The glass is clear up until you start pushing out past 22 power. I noticed fish eyes on the higher magnifications. The recital is busy for me, but not too bad. What I like is the first focal plane this is my first experience using it. I will now have to upgrade all 8 other Leupold scopes to first focal plane. The windage and elevation turrets are very nice with a zero lock and have positive clicks. The scope tracks up and down very accurately. The illumination is good enough in bright sunlight. At dawn and twilight the 56mm objective lets in plenty of light. I'm also liking the 34mm tube it gives you a very big field of view at lower magnifications. All in All for a scope costing 700 bucks it's a great deal. A couple of my Leupold cost double that. Are they that much better? I'm using this on my new 6.5 creedmoor build it's a very good scope at this price point it's a keeper. I have no issues other than the weight and size. You wouldn't walk through thick brush with this scope you'll be stuck on every branch. If you are looking for a good long range scope under a $1000.00 you should take a look at this one.
The stealth recoil spring is amazing. Works like a spring combo buffer should without the noise. Perfect for building a near silent suppressed hunting rifle.
Do yourself a solid when using the stealth spring in your firearm. (First Thing) Take out your BCG. Grab some 600 grit emery cloth and a wooden dowel. Wrap the emery cloth around the dowel, stick it into the round hole at the back of your BCG and polish it. Don't over do it just make it smooth. Then push the spring end with the secondary spring down until you see the retention hole in the rod. Stick a paperclip through that hole. Polish the end that enters your BCG. Squirt the entire spring it with some CLP or any good gun oil and enjoy. (TO THE NEWBIES) This spring fits a carbine length buffer tube. Not a rifle or pistol length tube. I believe I saw rifle length springs on another sight. I know if I worked at Armaspec when you called me with some of these complaints. I would LOL. I've been installing these springs without one issue in customers guns in 9mm, 556, 6.8, 6.5, 458, and 308 and my rifles. All work flawlessly.
This is my third Adams Arms kit i purchased. I'm not sure why i continue to buy them. They do keep the firearm cleaner. They add a certain level of confidence that you can send 100s of rounds down range all day without loading up the rifle full of spent gas and carbon. They sure do work nicely. If you are in the market for a piston system make sure you purchase the adjustable gas feature. especially if you are contemplating a suppressor in the future. This is a well made and easy to install piston kit. My biggest issue is wait times for these kits.
This is a no nonsense rifle scope, no clutter no cross hairs, no numbers, or dots, just a simple chevron that lights up. Sight it in and enjoy, Make sure you sight it in tip of chevron at 100 yards. I've already shot a doe two weeks ago 1 shot 1 kill. makes watching your target with the 30mm tube easy on the eyes, and placing the chevron on target is very natural. 200 yards underside of the tip of chevron 300 yards bottom of chevron. Don't buy this for a 600 yard gun 100-300 is out-standing scope and easy on my old eyes. I would recommend this for sub 500 dollar glass, it is on par with Vortex or Burris, Only minimal fisheye on 6 power at the edges, well worth the money.
Purchased this upper to use with an Anderson lower nice low budget upper receiver. Only gripe I have with Anderson is sometimes you get a sloppy fit. Mine is not to bad very subtle movement between the upper and lower. But you get what you pay for. Put together the whole gun Sub $450.00 with a two stage trigger. Time to see how it shoots.
