Well made but pointless

Written on Apr 27, 2025

My issue with this grip is two fold. First it is way too big, I am 6'6" with pretty good sized hands and this grip was just too big (length more so than width) which leads into the second point; it is litterally heavier than an A2 grip...doesnt make alot of sense to me. Bought it for a lightweight build but after weighing it, it will go on the shelf, but ill take the blame for not doing better homework on the weight. Construction is fine and if you like the looks and grip angle go for it, you wont be upset.

Very nice finish and quality, poor fitment

Written on Feb 06, 2024

The finish, look and feel of the handguard was awesome, and I was prepared to do some fitting. Sat down with a file, masked off the trunnion side of the handguard, measured with calipers and starting filing. Got the handguard where it had to be tapped into place with a plastic hammer and had 0 wobble, only had to file on the top of the rear lug. Used a plastic hammer against the front retainer and handguard to ensure that everything was seated with no gap. The problem is with the overall length of the handguard, it is between 40 to 60 thousands too long and the retainer lever could not be reengaged. I hopped on Reddit to see if other people were experiencing the same issue, which they were. Everyone said just use pliers and a hammer to carefully tap the lever back into the locked position at which point it sheared off, not sure how much engaged it is with the cutout and not sure how I am going to get the handguard off to replace it as it is "tight". No matter how careful I was, I still managed to get dings all over the gas block and front retainer of my new pistol, which I will accept responsibility for however the only way to fit properly was to install, remove, file and repeat. Only way I could see this being doable would be to put the handguard in a mill and evenly remove the necessary thickness and at that point, what's the point. I have a new ZPAP M92.
