i was iffy at first

Written on Oct 23, 2022

so the Romeo XDR is a great red dot, (or in my case green dot), but I'm going to be honest, i sat on the fence for a good month before I finally decided and got it, and the only real reason it did beat out it's competitors was probably the fact that SIG won that new big army contract and had an epic sale to celebrate. that combined with a 15% off code for red dot sights in stock and i ended up getting a romeo XDR for just a little over the price of the regular romeo optic. the reason why I aat for so long was the reticle. i really wanted a green circle dot, between colorblindness and nearsightedness it was the ideal reticle setup for me. but SIG had to be different... and this triangle reticle seemed kinda gimmicky at first, and it's a little bit of a rare piece, noone local to me had ot in stock for me to see in the flesh before I actually put the money down. but when the sale and the discount code hit together it kinda became a "f- it" and I'll try it out...
it's actually not that bad; and might be worth for some people to try out.
1st off the reticle at the"normal" (level 6 brightness that the battery life is quoted on) is literally day-glow toxic avenger radiation green. it's awesome. you'd have to be fully blind not to see this thing, especially in the dark. it's so bright in a full dark no lights on house at midnight you can see the teenage mutant Ninja turtles ooze colored glow coming out of this thing. definitely a mission accomplished on the "can i see it?" front.

diamonds in the rough

Written on Apr 19, 2022

so I'm not going to say they are, but these look alot like some stuff sold by GGG and leaper's; and believe it or not these would definitely be able to compare at least quality wise. they look good and were straight, the screws actually have a bit of roughness to them i actually don't mind, but just to be clear, the threads are a bit ROUGH cut, as long as you countersink the screw to make sure the threads are aligned you'll be perfectly good, and you'll get a screw set that's definitely not going to back out on you anytime soon and you can still get it apart again no problem. BTW for the nerds that need to know, the 1&1/4 in height quoted is from base to center of the ring, not to saddle. a solid basic necessity that gets the job done.

better than pictured

Written on Apr 19, 2022

the picture might be out of date, what i got was alot better looking, and lighter! instead of the drab grey pictured mine had a nice glossy black color, probably anondized but not cheaply, and it's skeletonized! it has oval slotting cut on an angel matching the kind of cantilever angle the base hase going. and it matches the oval cutaways on alot of other UTG and AIM mounts and handgaurds, looks remarkably well uniformed with my quad rail; 20moa base; and the riser for my red dot.

got some surprises with this one

Written on Apr 19, 2022

first off, according to the sig sauer website this scope got discontinued; so if you're interested in this piece you might wanna move fast in whatever you find left. secondly, mine was a bit different than pictured but I'm not complaining in the least. there's been some confusion about the color, spec sheets call it black but alot of pics and people say it's grey, mine's actually a beautiful gloss black with white lettering, and I'm actually glad cause it matches my color scheme perfectly. third off it didn't come with lens caps like the specs said, but mine did oddly enough come with a extended throw lever i was expecting to have to order separately later anyway, so another bonus there. i honestly haven't gotten to take it to the range yet, but the level of quality i got from this scope is immensely confidence inspiring compared to my previous poverty tier scope. everything clicks nice and works, the knobs and zoom ring are kinda tight but after just playing around with it before mounting i coild feel them actually start to break in a lil, the zoom ring especially feels good, still a lil stiff but with the lever on it you can still go from min to max without serious effort, and but tight enough to stay put till you tell it to go. the reticle is nice, keeps definition even at high brightness, and the fact your getting first focal plane and IP67 waterproofing at this price point made this a prime target for me finally getting out of Walmart/Amazon tier and into something serio
