Great lightweight magnified AR sight
Written on Oct 29, 2022
Review for
Primary Arms SLx 3x MicroPrism Red Dot Sight
I haven't abused this sight much, but it's holding zero so far.
Really good parts are that PA included a diopter adjustment, and that it is very very lightweight.
For QD mounting, it's compatible with AD-B2, but only using 2 screws.
PA included 4 different risers and you really need them, this sight has very little eye relief, so you need to adjust it to position it very close to the eye. I'm not even sure if it will work for every rifle, as an experiment I've tried to mount it on a 10/22 with a standard factory stock, but it was barely usable without a cantilever riser moving it back, and even the lowest riser puts it rather high.
On AR-15 upper it is at home. Even though manual recommends the highest, medium riser clears a folding sight under it and puts the objective far enough. Very pleasant experience to shoot, the image is sharp and bright (duh it's 3x), parallax fixed at 100y but it's usable up close at 25y with reticle and target both staying sharp. Depth of field should work the other way too, but I haven't taken it to a longer than 100y range yet.
TL;DR it's very good that you can get a 3x prism that is the size and price of a reflex red dot sight, but make sure you can mount it appropriately for your application.

This is a lower 1/3 cowitness mount
Written on Jan 12, 2018
It is, there's no way around it, this mount gives you lower 1/3 cowitness.
At first I thought that OP shipped the wrong mount, but mine is stamped T1-10, and is lower 1/3 cowitness anyway.
Still a pretty good mount though.
