Solid, very solid . . .
Written on Apr 27, 2026
I used to be big into free-float tubes / rail systems.
These days, I try to keep things simple enough for my little pea brain to handle . .
I picked up a used A2 20 inch that is going to be converted to flat-top because some idiot (not this idiot, for once) decided to dremel the feed ramps.
I just felt like dressing the piece up a bit, so I ordered these on sale.
Color me surprised when they fit perfectly and ended up with super tight fitment!
I mean seriously rock solid!
I don't much care about the Mlok features - I will add a light, but I could have mounted a light to the standard handguards.
But the easy install, the tight (secure) fit, and the great texturing are really nice, and I am really happy with the product!

Who needs black when you can have highly functional bling?

Unlike one of the previous reviewers, my unit came spotless and lightly oiled inside the MI standard blister pack.
The edges and surfaces are cleanly cut.
I haven't used the barrel nut feature yet, but I have used the car wrench / castle nut end several times.
It functions perfectly, and the overall impression is that of a great, well-made tool, much like a hard-chromed Craftsman wrench of yesteryear.
At a reduced price from the non-chromed version, I had to ask myself - why not?
Very pleased with the purchase, and anticipate getting many years of solid service from the tool.

Excellent fit and finish, with a bonus!

I am really glad that I waited to buy the Mesa Tactical LEO Gen II (Mossberg), because the Gen II has a cut-out for the slide / action bar release. One of the big arguments against pistol grip stock for the Mossberg 500 series has always been that the grip impeded usage of the action bar lock release.
Well, this just solved that problem completely.
Tilt the shotgun slightly to *easily* and positively engage that release!
Fit and finish on the LEO unit is excellent, and I had zero problems fitting it (100% drop-in) on a 590a1.
I have went through several stock variations on this Mossberg, including the highly regarded SGA, and this is by far my favorite set-up.
It's superb for those with shorter arms and fingers!
