Fantastic grip

Written on Oct 02, 2021

I’m now running this grip on three different rifles. I used to use a stubby vertical grip, but it never felt right and I was mostly gripping around the handguard with just my pinky and a bit of my ring finger touching the vertical grip, making most of the vertical grip a waste. This grip solves that and takes it a step further, you can really pull the rifle back into your shoulder well. It’s extremely ergonomic and I’d highly recommend it.

Solid sealing plate

Written on Oct 02, 2021

Not much to say here, plate does what it’s supposed to do. I’ve called and talked to Trijicon support and they said it’s not always needed (that depends on the mounting situation) but won’t hurt, so I run it with all RMR’s. Why not spend a little bit of money here to protect your RMR and make sure you can keep it running.

Great rail cover

Written on Sep 10, 2021

These are awesome rail covers. Texture is just right where it’s grippy enough but not a cheese grater. Easy to put on and off. High quality like everything magpul, and cheap enough you’re not heart broken if you ever lost one - which I haven’t experienced in having these on multiple guns for years.

Solid brake

Written on Aug 27, 2021

This may not be the flashiest muzzle device out there, but it’s a great functional brake. I prefer this to the flash hider for ASR mounts. Nothing to complain about on the ones I have, that said I wouldn’t buy this unless you’re planning to use it in conjunction with a SiCo suppressor. For a muzzle brake I’m sure there’s better options out there, as a suppressor mount, I’ve had no issues.

Disappointed

Written on Jul 25, 2021

I purchased the Rein and Rein Micro to replace a Streamlight Pro-Tac HL-X and an InForce WML-X. Reading about these lights I was really hoping for the best. My SL is 1,000 lumen and 27,000 candela, so I assumed the Rein at 1,400 lumens and 60,000 candela would be noticeably brighter, hopefully by a good margin.

I regret to report that was not the case. Not only was the Rein not significantly brighter, I don’t think it was even as bright as the SL. I know lumens and candela are linear (I was expecting it to be 40% brighter because it had 40% more lumens), but I’m telling you to the naked eye, it wasn’t even as good.

I tested indoors and outdoors, and in both cases the Rein failed to match the SL.

The Rein does have a slightly brighter center dot, however beyond that center dot the brightness dropped off quickly. The SL had a less defined center dot but the edge to edge brightness was significantly more than the Rein, and speaking of edge to edge the SL had a wider beam.

Admittedly, the Rein is built like a TANK. I really liked the fact that the remote switch is independent from the tail cap. I preferred the switch of the Rein to the SL, mostly due to the SL being larger than it needs to be.

The color temperature of the REIN is much warmer (more yellow) than the SL, which in my opinion is a much more pure white light.

Had I been making a first purchase, without the side by side, I’d probably be happy with the Rein.

However, for the cost ($300+) I can’t justify it over th

Fantastic quality and amazing value

Written on Jun 29, 2021

I did rather extensive research on this scope and was primarily comparing it to the Razor HD Gen II 1-6, which is over twice the price. Many side by side comparison videos on YouTube came to similar conclusions: for the money the Viper PST is a great choice compared to the Razor, one very well done review even said, taking cost out of it, he had the Viper and Razor even. So I decided to go with the Viper. It has not disappointed.

I love the brightness of the illumination, it's truly sunny day daytime bright. I've used a Strike Eagle Gen 1(comparing on the other side of the spectrum) and the illumination on that is nowhere near as bright as the Viper. Field of view, light transmission, and clarity are all great.

I think the cost differential over a Strike Eagle is well worth it, you're getting a much better optic. Would I pay over double for a Razor? I don't see myself ever doing that.

This is a fantastic scope period. At the price point this scope comes in at, its phenomenal.

(just get the throw lever, the only negative is that this isn't included).
