I used to be an Eotech guy until I swapped out the CR123A battery one too many times. Then one day I decided to give an Aimpoint PRO a try because I heard the battery life was something stupid long (30,000 hours) with their captured alien technology. I had nothing but great experience after 2 years of testing the PRO (still with factory battery btw), so late last year I decided to try the CompM5. The price tag is definitely a hefty one, but you get what you pay for. The optical quality is slightly clearer to me than the PRO. Both the CompM5 and PRO have a crisp 2 MOA dot as you'd expect from Aimpoint. The major pros with the CompM5 are the weight, size, and battery. Using a common AAA battery is a game changer in my opinion. I think Aimpoint should have this option for a "budget" optic like the PRO. Bottom line, if you're on a budget, just get the PRO because it works great and you'll love it. If you don't mind forking out the extra cash and can afford it, try the CompM5 and you'll love it even more because you paid more. That's how it works guys/gals! I will just say that if I could only have one, I'd choose the PRO and spend the extra money on an Aimpoint 3X magnifier behind the PRO. Awesome setup btw. Cheers!
