Good affordable OWB holster

Review for
Don Hume J.I.T. Slide OWB Open Carry Holster
Well made, light, compact, basic OWB leather holster. Colors are more glossy than preferred but not a deal breaker. Covers trigger guard well. Leather isn’t obnoxiously thick, will see how usage over time affects ability to retain shape, and snugness to firearm. Would want to see an IWB version.

Needs a tucked undershirt

Great minimalist holster, but needs to be worn with a tucked undershirt or the exposed edges of your pistol is going to have a tendency to scratch you. Minimalist design also precluded re-holstering easily. Not for me. Item returned.

Wasn’t the right one
Written on Jul 31, 2021
Was looking for something as minimalist as possible. Thought this would be it but the close to 1” outside diameter was a deal breaker. Didn’t install. Build quality looked, and felt top notch. Just not the one I was looking for.

This should be the default size out of the box.

Ordered small grip size. Fits much better than the medium. The small sized grip module also has the net effect of having an longer beaver tail that enables a more secure grip. For reference glove size is large.

Review for
DoubleStar Strongarm Pistol Brace
Review is for Doublestar buffer tube with pistol brace. It weighs similar to some of the other braces available but it’s made from aluminum instead of polymer or rubber. Very solid with no flex. Mounting it slightly canted to one side before strapping it on allows your arm to be more in-line with the firearm to provide a much more secure, and stable single hand shooting position. Buffer tube design allows user to forego the castle nut, reducing some weight and one less part to worry about. Be aware that the endplate at the rear of the lower receiver that keeps the detent spring in place needs to the type that doesn’t have a key otherwise you can’t install the buffer tube properly. A QD endplate included would have been nice. Would have given 5 stars but the brace requires the use of the smaller 1.19” buffer tube. This product needs a version which fits the bigger 1.24++” diameter buffer tubes.
