Great little scope for plinking, hunting and maybe even some tactical

Written on Jan 08, 2024

Really like the scope for its small size, decent optics, and quick release. I am using it on some M&P 15-22 rifles for my kids to practice on the AR platform with low recoil, light and cheap to shoot :)

Nice stock, but it could be improved.

Written on Dec 10, 2023

Overall, I do like the grey color, and like the feel of it. It goes well with carbon fiber colors too. For the sale price, I am pleased with this product.

I found it doesn't work with the Timber Creek carbon fiber buffers because that buffer tube product seems to be out of proper tolerances for most stocks were it deserving has a 1 star review on Optics Planet. I think you can modify this stock to fit this troubled buffer tube if you really like the carbon look and metal colors on their tube. They have this carbon fiber tube referenced as Timber Creek Enforcer Carbon Fiber Buffer Tube Kit.

For one reviewers comment it is light, I found it weighs a little over 9 ounces so it is not the lightest nor the heaviest - somewhere in the middle or could be the "Goldilock" for some. I wish it were a bit lighter unless it can be used on AR10s. Example, the Mission First Tactical Battle link Minimalist is about 6 ounces (AR15), while their Extreme Duty version for AR15/AR10 is about 8 ounces.

For the second reviewer comment about sling attachment, there are the 2 QD spots near the top on either left or right side. I wish it had one at the very bottom, but it doesn't. It doesn't have anywhere else to add any MLOC attachments, so if you don't like the one position for a QD sling attachment on either upper left or right side, I guess you may not be happy.

Just the buffer tube weighing a mere 3.1 oz

Written on Dec 09, 2023

Okay, my first time using this product, but I plan to buy more. The tube comes in at 3.1 oz and quality appears good. It has a lifetime warranty, so I plan to try it on my 5.56 using a KynShot buffer. I'll report back the results, but right now it all looks good.

Super light like the lightest carbon, but more conductive like aluminum

Written on Aug 29, 2021

So, why do you choose a carbon hand guard? If it is for being light, well this one is nearly as light as you get. Is it for strength, this is probably just as strong but I've not tested. You want one that is cheap - you can't find lighter and cheaper than this! You want one that looks more black than grey carbon, and looks good on your gun, this is it! So why not 5 stars?

There are 2 negatives about this brand:

1) If you chose a carbon handguard to not feel so hot to your touch like a metal hand guard, this is not it. The true carbon hand guards made by Lancer, Faxon, BattleArms, etc. do not conduct heat as much to your hands. This one I fond to be no better than metal. These hand gaurds cost 4-5x more too!

2) The rail on top is mostly straight, but I found that they are not pure straight. If you are mounting something like a scope to part of the rail, it is probably not ideal. It bowes in the center. If you just want to mount a front sight, then no issue!

Awesome looking, practical, light and strong!!!

Okay, this handguard is among the best for mid-length/carbine length gas barrels. I use them on all my 16" pencil barrel setups. It would work with pistol barrels too. While it is 10" long, I'm disappointed that they don't make a rifle and rifle plus length hand guard.

Had a rough start with gas port, but barrel weight and finish are nice.

Written on Jul 24, 2021

The barrel looks and feels great, but out of the box ready it was not. It was not providing enough gas to cycle reliably. I had put an adjustable gas block on it expecting some degree of tuning to get running well. Fully opened was not enough. So, I took it to my local gunsmith, he had to open the port 0.004 so this barrel cost me an extra $125 to get running.

I have not tested accuracy, but I do like the weight and feel with the barrel and a carbon handguard. It should make a wonderful rifle for wild boar.

I ordered a KAK BCG which is supposed to be tuned to shoot steal. If the bore is not too tight in this barrel, and it shoots steal, I can get back some of that $125 on ammo quickly.

I recommend with caution.

Awesome on my Andersen AR lower for all standard AR15 rifle calibers, not sure it works on 9mm setup

Written on Feb 24, 2021

This adds 6 oz of weight, and about 2" of length - I love it though! I bought 2 and now I am buying another 3.

FYI - You can lighten your AR with pencil barrels from Faxon, or use carbon fiber to offset this extra weight. At least the weight is towards the rear so it is not too bad. Not sure if it works with binary triggers, I will soon find out though.

Because it adds about 2" of length, you must insert a BCG extension into the hole end of your BCG so it comes in contact with the buffer.

How is this compatible with the Faxon 9mm Gen 2 BCG as stated by Vick since there seems to be no hole in the back of this BCG extension piece to be inserted?

That is a problem I faced with my Andersen AM9, the BCG is solid in the back and the extension cannot be inserted.
