Have A Ruger 10-22 Take-Down With A TacStar AdTac Stock? Give This Case STRONG Consideration

Written on Mar 18, 2017

I have been looking for a case for a Ruger 10-22 Take-Down with a Lyman TacStar AdTac stock and monopod for quite some time. I finally came across this case and decided to give it a try. The 22-inch case I bought is a bit big, but not too big. As such, it has plenty of room in the main compartment for the two rifle pieces (with scope) and accessories (such as a bipod).

It's a bit of overkill (meaning, too much of a case and too nice of a case) for a 10-22 Take-Down, but I think you won't be disappointed. The interior compartment is customizable with 4 straps that can be moved to a variety of lash points. The interior compartment panel divider is held on with Velcro (so removable). The side opposite the lash point side has a massive Velcro "wall" allowing for more customization (case comes with a Velcro-attached 4 magazine storage pouch/panel in case your preferred item is a SMG). The foam panels are also removable; allows for thicker panels if you feel the need (though not sure yet where one would get them).

The outside has a large pocket. The carrying strap is well-made. The handle (with Velcro closure) is as well. There are 2 "d rings" for the carrying strap, but they can also be used to hold keys, etc. Finally, there is a Velcro panel on the exterior pocket almost wide enough for three "morale patches."

Worth every penny you'll pay for it; btw, OpticsPlanet had the best price - by far - for it.

Looks Better In The Photo Than In The Hand

Absolutely underwhelmed. I have a 5.11 hat with circular Velcro patch on front and you would think this patch was made to fit it (or the hat Velcro was made to fit the patch). Alas, no; the patch is bigger than the Velcro on the hat (top & bottom curves) so sticking the patch on the hat looks just plain bad.

The quality of the patch underwhelms as well. Cool design, but in the hand the patch looks and feels cheap.

Wouldn't buy again; wouldn't recommend anyone else buying. 5.11 patches are usually really nice. This, however, is a real disappointment.
